Kamchatka Odysseya route

    Price includes:
    all overland transfers, 3 nights in the "Helios" resort in Paratunka (room share), 1 night in a hotel in Kozyrevsk, 2 nights in lodges, 7 nights in comfortable tents, service of local guides in the field, kitchen crew, national park fee, restricted area permit, all the meals when not in the city and Paratunka, breakfasts in Paratunka, camping stuff.

    Domestic flight (if any) airfare, Russian visa, over luggage extra charge if any, personal expenses, tips and medical insurance are not included.

"KAMCHATKA ODYSSEYA"


This program combines strenious trekking and climbing to the most magnificent volcanoes of Kamchatka, meeting with local nomadic tribes and exploring a great variety of climatic zones, flora and fauna of Kamchatka. It also gives an opportunity for research-minded people to conceive dramatic processes of the earlier Earth.

Itinerary:
  • Day 1. Arrival to Yelizovo (P.-K.), transfer to the “Helios” hot springs resort in Paratunka. Meeting the guides and expedition crew. Welcome dinner.
  • Day 2. Drive by an off-road “Monster” to town Kozyrevsk on the north of Kamchatka (500 km – 7 hours). On the way lunch at Kamchatka river ferry crossing. Overnight in tents near Kozyrevsk.
  • Day 3. Continue drive off-road to the foothills of  Tolbachik volcano (65 km – 5 hours). Forest buried in ashes. Overnight at the seismic station “Vodopadnaya” in tents (900 m asl).
  • Day 4. Walk to the site of eruption in 1941. After lunch at the BC drive to fumarolas of the Northern Side breakthrough. Excursion around.
  • Day 5. Climb the Tolbachik top (3062 m). Return back to the BC.
  • Day 6. Hike to the Southern breakthrough – 14 km round hike. Hawaii lava types, thermal grounds.
  • Day 7. Drive to Esso village. Walk around the village and acquaintance with life of koryak tribe villagers. Overnight in a lodge. Evening thermal springs bath.
  • Day 8. Morning visiting the local village museum and maybe a nomadic family. Start driving back to the south to the Avacha Base Camp – 7 hours. Overnight in tents.
  • Day 9. Avacha volcano ascent (2741 m) – 8 hours. Evening transfer to “Rodnikovaya” hot springs resort at a beautiful high waterfall. Overnight in the resort.
  • Day 10. Drive to the foothills of volcano Gorely. Ascent (4 hours) and  magnificent panorama of two crater’s lakes from the top. Overnight in tents at the foothills of the volcano.
  • Day 11. Climb to the crater of the Mutnovsky volcano. Step on the glacier and overlook of fumarolas and geysers in the crater. Overnight in tents.
  • Day 12. Drive back to Paratunka village. Visiting a local fishing farm. Overnight in the resort “Helios”. Hot springs bathing.
  • Day 13. Excursion around the city of Petropavlovsk- Kamchatsky. Museum of Regional Studies, the Institute of Vulcanology. Farewell dinner in a restaurant.
  • Day 14. Day of departure.
