TRANSPORT COMMUNICATION

The only way of transportation outside of Kamchatka and some villages at
the north of the peninsula (Koryakiya) is by air (airplanes and helicopters).
Some villages and towns also are accessable by bus.
Airport:
The Yelizovo (Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky) International Airport
is located 18 km
from Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky city and 5 km from the Yelizovo town. It’s
a first class base airport, classified by Civil Aviation
Administration as class “A”. The 3400 meter runway can accommodate
short-range aircraft such as Yak-40, Let-410, AN 26B and long-range
aircraft such as IL-76, IL-86, IL-96, AN-124 ”Ruslan” and all foreign types of aircraft. All airport services are certified.
In order to reach Kamchatka you can fly to
Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky from Anchorage (Alaska, USA), through
Magadan, or from Niigata (Japan) via Khabarovsk or Vladivostok, or
from Moscow (9 hours non-stop flight), St. Petersburg, Krasnoyarsk, Krasnodar,
Novosibirsk.
